Manual 01 / Semen retention
Semen Retention Is Not Abstinence. It Is Directed Expenditure.
What happens when sexual force stops being treated as a command and starts receiving an assignment.

I have never masturbated.
I put that first because everything below leans on it, and because it derails almost every conversation I have about semen retention before the conversation starts.
People hear "retention" and cast me in a story they already know. A guy gets trapped in a loop, hates himself, finds a counter, builds a streak, falls off, builds another. A redemption arc measured in days. It's a good story. It just isn't mine.
My story has no bottom to climb out of. For a long time that bothered me, because it felt like I had no right to an opinion. Everyone writing about this had a wound. I had a question.
The question was: if this force is already being held, what can it become?
This is my answer. Not a recovery plan. A manual for the force.
I was never in recovery
Porn found me around fourteen or fifteen, the usual way: I was bored, and a few friends at school kept nudging me toward it. I watched it roughly the way you'd watch anime. Curious, a little detached, slightly baffled that this was apparently the most important thing in the world. My body did what bodies do. And then nothing followed. Arousal showed up and it didn't read as an instruction. It read as weather, something passing through that I could watch.
I assumed everyone worked like that, until I started reading about everyone else.
The energy didn't go anywhere dramatic. It went into things. I wrote dark romance and smut. I started making M4F roleplay ASMR. I got obsessive about aesthetics, about how things looked and sounded and felt, including me. At the time I'd have told you these were separate hobbies. They weren't. Erotic imagination was turning into writing. Voice and sexual presence were turning into ASMR. The hunger for beauty was turning into a project of building myself on purpose. I just never had a reason to connect them.
Subliminals came in as one more experiment. Then in March 2025 I started RECURSOR, and for the first time all of it had one vessel: the voice, the writing, the aesthetic obsession, the pull toward whatever sits underneath behavior. It stopped being scattered and became work.
Then a long relationship ended. February and March of 2026 were the loudest months I've had, and ALTAR came out of them. That was when I could no longer call it an accident. The pressure had somewhere to go, and I knew where. I'm approaching nineteen as I write this.
Retention came first. The theory arrived later to explain what the force had already been doing.
Why I will never publish a streak
I don't count days. That sounds like a flex or a dodge, and it's neither. It's a method.
A streak measures the wall. I care about the room.
A streak tells you how long the door stayed shut and nothing about what happened inside. My metric is stupidly simple: what exists because I did not spend it automatically? A subliminal I finished. A voice that holds a room. The way I carry my body. A relationship I chose slowly instead of grabbing. A decision I made calmly instead of hungrily. A version of me I'd never have met if I'd kept spending. If the answer is nothing, the streak is just a very long wait.
Retention is not celibacy. I'm not rejecting sex. I'm asking whether it's chosen or automatic. It's not suppression either, which is white-knuckled denial of a desire with nowhere higher to go, a pressure cooker with better branding. And it's not abstinence, because you can abstain perfectly and still leak attention and fantasy all day.
So the divide I care about isn't release versus non-release. A man can physically hold and still live entirely on reflex. A sexual act can be completely aligned when it comes from fullness and authorship. The line runs from automatic to chosen.
What I mean by force
Semen is the shallowest layer. Fine, it's physical, it's where everyone starts. But treating it as the whole thing is like describing a river by its first inch.
What I'm really holding is everything that would otherwise go out on reflex: semen, yes, and also attention, appetite, intensity, creative force. I think of sexual energy and creative energy as one force in different clothes. That isn't a line I reach for to sound deep. It's what I've watched happen. The same pull that had me writing smut at fifteen later had me building subliminals. Different medium. Same force.
I've never managed to explain this with one system, and I've stopped trying. Some of it is plainly physical. Some is psychological. Some of it lives below conscious thought, which is a big part of why I make subliminals at all. And some of it I can only describe as energetic or spiritual: a sense of charge that gathers, changes quality, rises. I don't need those layers to agree with each other before I work with them. When I stop spending, things shift at several levels at once, and I'd rather study that than flatten it into whichever explanation is easiest to defend.
What shifts first is invisible. Before anything shows up in my life, my attention sharpens, my appetite gets quieter and less bossy, my selectivity changes, and I can sit in unresolved desire longer without it running me. None of that shows in a screenshot. All of it is real. People quit in exactly this window, because they're waiting for something visible.
The furnace and the pressure cooker
Here's the part the abstinence crowd skips: holding without direction goes bad. Agitation, fixation, heat with no address. I've been there. Hold with nowhere to put it and something eventually gives.
So I stopped treating the force like a sin to contain and started treating it like fire to keep. The goal isn't to kill the fire. It's to own the furnace.
What I point it at changes. Writing, building, training, making subliminals, intimacy, working on who I'm becoming. The target matters less than having one.
How do I know it's working? I don't trust the feeling much. I trust what changes around it: how I carry my body, what pulls me and what stops pulling me, who I give my attention to, how quiet the hunger gets, what I finally finish. If something I've avoided for months suddenly gets done, that's the real sign. If I can't point at anything, I haven't transmuted anything. I've just been tense.
Sex without the hunger
Time for the part people expect me to dodge. I'm not anti-sex. I'm not anti-woman. Women aren't the enemy, and neither are desire, attraction or romantic intensity. What I'm wary of is being run by any of it: hunger dressed up as attraction, needing validation more than I need the person, losing a mission to an obsession.
I think sex is one of the most beautiful things two people can do. Embodiment, intimacy, energy moving between two people, and at its best something I can only call divine orchestration. If that's true, it shouldn't be cheap.
That's the whole origin of my selectivity, and it isn't fear. It's valuation. I put a high price on what gets my attention, my body, my emotional intensity and my creative energy, not because I'm precious about it but because beauty, intensity, devotion and artistry deserve discernment. I'm not holding back from sex. I'm holding out for it to be worth what it costs.
There's a difference between having desire and being had by it. A man who's possessed by desire will take whatever makes the feeling stop. A man who possesses it can let it stand in the room, enjoy it, even luxuriate in it, and still choose.
That's what I mean by abundance. It isn't "sleep with everyone who wants you." It's having force, options, desire and access, all four, without any of them turning into need.
I don't think ejaculation is evil, either. I have no interest in a hierarchy where holding is holy and release is sin. Mine runs from unconscious expenditure at the bottom to conscious expression at the top, and conscious expression can mean holding or it can mean releasing. I still lean toward holding more often, and I'll be honest about why: the state I get to gives me a clarity and an inner fullness I value more than casual release. That's a preference from experience, not a law of nature.
On relationships: I'm open to a woman who can build alongside the person I'm becoming, not only the one I am today. I'm not hunting. Right now creation, work and building myself outrank the chase, and chemistry alone doesn't move me.
The mature state is not less sexual. It is less governable by sexuality.
Porn, wet dreams and the November trap
Three questions show up every year, so here are three straight answers.
Porn. I don't treat it as the final boss. Whole industries run on male attention, and they all need the same thing from you: that you present yourself as an easy market. The damage isn't that porn exists. It's the slow handing over of your sexual attention to something built to harvest it. I met it at fourteen and it never became a habit, which says less about my willpower than about what my energy was already doing. A man with real purpose and some inner fullness has less and less reason to spend hours inside synthetic intensity. I don't need a rule. The hunger drops and the grip loosens with it.
Wet dreams. They're not a moral failure, and they don't mean your character is broken. Sometimes it's ordinary physiology. Sometimes I read it as pressure that found no destination. An occasional one deserves zero shame. If they become frequent, that's information to observe, not something to panic over. ATHANOR is designed to improve redirection and reabsorption so the body needs nocturnal discharge less, but I won't pretend ordinary physiology is a defect.
No Nut November. It isn't the philosophy. It's a door. Once a year a lot of men suddenly become willing to look at where ten months of energy, attention and appetite went, and that willingness is the valuable part. Surviving thirty days and collecting a number isn't the win. The win is using the weeks left in the year to stop being the predecessor and start living as the successor: the next version who inherits the exact same life and runs it differently.
Since this subject collects bad takes like a magnet:
| The bad reading | What is closer to true |
|---|---|
| retention guarantees superpowers | it can matter profoundly without being a universal guarantee |
| women are the temptation | being governed by hunger is the issue, not women |
| horniness should disappear | desire may intensify while losing its authority over you |
| one bad night ruins everything | the cost can be one night instead of a spiral, if the leak closes at once |
Why I built an instrument
I had to say all of that before this part could make sense.
Ordinary retention is the floor. It holds, and what it does is whatever holding does on its own. I wanted to go further into everything I kept noticing: the subconscious layer, the energetic layer, the sense that identity itself can be rebuilt. So I built ATHANOR, a subliminal designed around that whole picture. Subliminal programming, manifestation logic, biological intentions, energetic and spiritual frameworks, identity reconstruction, all pointed at amplifying and stabilizing what retention starts.
I keep one line sharp. What ATHANOR is built to reach is one thing. What retention does alone is another. I won't blur them to sell you something. The biological, energetic, spiritual and social targets in the drawing below are what ATHANOR is designed toward, and they are not a promise about what not ejaculating does for any man by default.
This essay is the worldview. ATHANOR is where it stops being thinking and becomes something you can practice.
The part I didn't choose
This is the section I've been circling the whole time, so I'll say it plainly.
Everything above sounds like technique. It mostly isn't. From the outside, what I do can look like discipline. From the inside it just feels like how I'm built, and it was running long before I had words for it.
Arousal has never felt like an order. It arrives, it's real, sometimes it's loud, and it doesn't come with instructions. When pressure builds, my default isn't to get rid of it. It's to take it inward and carry it. I process privately first and express later, through another door. Loud doesn't mean urgent. I don't need something resolved just because it's intense, whether the intensity is sexual, emotional or somewhere in between. Wanting something and not having it yet is a place I can live without panicking. I'm still not entirely sure why that's easy for me. I only know that it is.
And there's always another door. The pressure moved into voice work. Into M4F roleplay ASMR. Into dark romance and smut. Into aesthetics, into subliminals, into RECURSOR, into ALTAR, and into whatever comes next. Sexual and emotional charge has never really disappeared on me. It keeps changing medium.
Breakups don't flatten me the way they flatten other people. They turn into work. So do low periods. I won't romanticize that, because the pain is the pain. What I've noticed is that I have a hard time leaving an intense internal state unused. Something almost always gets made from it, whether I planned it or not.
I can be intensely sexual and still not have sexuality sitting at the center of my life, which most people seem to assume is a contradiction. I can feel deeply and still be selective about who gets to see it. None of that was a decision I made at sixteen. It was just the shape I came in.
What I did decide, much later, was to take over. Instinct alone wasn't enough. What came naturally was redirection by default, and what I learned to do on purpose was say: this much goes here, this much waits, this part I spend, this part I keep. The difference between being built a certain way and owning how you're built is the whole game.
Who decided where this went?
Semen is the most visceral version of this idea. It isn't the only one.
Attention. Desire. Grief. Anger. Validation. Romantic fixation. Money. Time. Creative force. Each one gets more powerful when it isn't spent on reflex, and each one gets spent on reflex by default. The tired scroll. The text you didn't need to send. The argument you picked because you had heat and nowhere to put it. The money that left because you were bored.
So the question I carry isn't whether I held or released. It's the one underneath: who decided where this went?
If the answer is "I did," I'm fine, whatever I did. If the answer is "it just happened," that's the leak, whatever I did.
I'm not trying to become a man who wastes nothing. I'm trying to become this:
A man with more force available than he is willing to waste.

Take ATHANOR into SIGNAL
For the man who wants to practice this, not just agree with it. ATHANOR is free to hear with a SIGNAL account, and SIGNAL is where this work carries on with me and the people doing it.
Build
Have one built for you
For the man whose situation is too specific for a general release. FORGE is where I build a custom subliminal around you and the one thing you actually need to change.
